Bighorn River Gear Review: AirLock CenterLock Strike Indicators

I’ve been running the new AirLock Centerlock Indicators on my nymph rigs this spring, and they’ve quickly earned a spot in my pack.

The centerlock design is a major upgrade—twist-to-lock tension keeps the indicator firmly in place all day, even with repeated depth changes. No leader kinks, no slippage, and no annoying rubber grommets to deal with.

On the water, they float high thanks to the low-density, closed-cell foam, but they’re still lightweight enough to avoid dragging your flies. I tested them in a range of current speeds—from soft seams to fast riffles—and they tracked cleanly with minimal surface resistance. Visibility was excellent even in glare, and the center-weighted design helps with better drift alignment, especially when you're fishing fine tippet or micro-shot.

For anglers who like to fine-tune their rigs and want reliable performance in cold or fast-changing conditions, these strike indicators are a standout. They're guide-tough, beginner-friendly, and built for precision drifts.
